MoveSmart Office
This training programme is to enable your personnel to be self-sufficient in maintaining a safe and efficient workstation set-up.
It is designed to improve an individual’s functional comfort levels and behaviour as they interact with their workplace.
Effective Workstation assessment requires two elements of intervention:
These are set according to each individuals’ comfort levels to a new set of parameters.
1.
- We raise a person’s awareness of their own comfort levels and offer other options for them to choose the most comfortable for themselves.
- How they move in their chair (about multiple better postures)
- Breathing patterns to reduce the effects of stress and pressure
- Multiple comfortable sitting options
- Movements to compensate for sedentary work.
2.
- Identify optimal physical work station set-up and ergonomics of layout according to every individuals personal comfort. This covers:
- Seating/chair/adjustments
- Desk height
- Screen placement heights/distance
- Copy holders
- Mouse/ key board function and placement
- Phone and other incidentals
- Lighting and environment
This training is a half day training programme for up to 12 people.
Part 1 is undertaken as a 2-hour group session to learn common key elements of movements that everyone requires to understand to be comfortable with sitting/office tasks.
Followed by:
Part 2 is a 15 to 30 minute one on one interaction with each person at their workstation to help transfer and apply the group learning material into action and address the ergonomics and physical set-up of their workstation.
Key Features:
- Too many people accept discomfort as normal and acceptable… but it doesn’t have to be.
- Employees will identify immediate benefits for themselves. A “what’s in it for me” factor. This is the critical element that leads to a change in habits and acceptance of change. That is, a shift towards improving peoples’ comfort levels at their workstation and safe movements when performing tasks.
- The programme teaches movement techniques, multiple postures and ‘workstation set-up’ possibilities that are proven to result in less discomfort, muscle fatigue, aches and soreness leading to less strain and sprain pain.
- Simple ergonomics relating to workstation set-up, NOT according to ‘the book’, but to each individuals’ personal needs and comfort. (This varies between individuals).
- The ‘transfer effect’ – the application of new skills and set up of the workstation is significant. Employees are keen to apply the techniques on the job – they have identified their own reason to do so, and understand a change that can be made, and a benefit obtained.
- Employees begin to realise that they are not as ‘comfortable as they could be’ resulting in very early intervention to prevent discomfort, pain, and injury (DPI).
